If you want to know anything else, just ask...the worst I'm gonna tell you is that it's none of your business.

Occupation

Disc Jockey

I've been DJing for 13+ years.  Most of that time has been at the Blazing Saddle in Des Moines.  There have been a few other places over the years but, most...actually, all of them are gone now.

Cleaning Lady

In addition to DJing at the Saddle, I also assume the role of "Hazel the Cleaning Lady".  That's right, folks, I've got the glamorous job of cleaning the toilets Monday through Friday.  Oh well, it pays the mortgage!

Book Industry

For about 10 years, I worked in the book industry...retail for Barnes & Noble and its mall division, B. Dalton Bookseller.  I even managed a "Dalton" for a while.  After B&N, I ran a small book wholesaler here in Des Moines.

Musical Influences

Since I am an 80s child, you can pretty much name any artist that hit the charts and they've probably had an influence. I also have to say that I can see flashes of the 30s and 40s music that my parents used to play rearing its "ugly" head. Some of my favorite artists of the past include:

The Eurythmics, Tina Turner, and Prince,

and, of course, The Disco Queens

Diana Ross, Donna Summer

Favorite Authors

This is one of those sections where I feel like I should put something "profound" like Hemingway, etc.  However, I just don't read the "classics" anymore even though I have a BA in English.  So, here's the truth...

Laurell K. Hamilton

The Anita Blake Vampire Hunter novels and The Meredith Gentry "Faerie" novels.  Think of the early Anne Rice novels and you'll get an idea of what these are like.

Dorothy Gilman

The Mrs. Pollifax mysteries...Light and frothy antics of an old woman turned CIA spy.

Anne McCaffrey

The Dragonriders of Pern series...though I've got to admit that I haven't picked one of these up in a while.

Irving Stone

Some of the ones I've read include the biographical novels of Charles Darwin and Henry Schliemann (discovered the archaelogical site of Troy--possibly).
